How we use your browser's technical data
In short: we only track you if you explicitly consent, never otherwise. Here's a detailed look at what we use and why.

1. What cookies are (and what they aren't)
Cookies are small files that some websites store in your browser to remember information between visits. By default, our site does not install any cookies on your device: some third-party cookies (Google Analytics, Meta Pixel) only activate if you explicitly consent to the corresponding category, as explained in detail below. We also use the browser's localStorage — a similar technology in purpose (storing something locally on your device) but technically different, which for the sake of transparency we treat with the same consent rules as a cookie.
2. What we store, in detail
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
bdf-lang |
localStorage (not a cookie) | Remembers whether you prefer to browse the site in Italian or English | Until manually cleared from the browser |
bdf-cookie-consent |
localStorage (not a cookie) | Remembers your choice on this banner so you are not asked again on every visit | Until manually cleared from the browser |
_ga, _ga_* |
Third-party cookie (Google Analytics) | Aggregate visit statistics: how many people visit the site, which pages they look at most. Only activated if you consent to the "Statistics" category | Up to 13 months |
_fbp, fr |
Third-party cookie (Meta/Facebook Pixel) | Measurement of Facebook/Instagram ads and remarketing to people who already visited the site. Only activated if you consent to the "Marketing" category | Up to 90 days |
The localStorage for language and consent doesn't let us identify you personally or track you across other sites. Google Analytics cookies, when active, only help us understand overall visit trends: we don't use them for advertising or combine them with other data about you. Meta Pixel cookies, when active, exist specifically for advertising purposes: see section 6 for details.
3. What we do NOT use
To be clear about what you will not find on this site:
- no profiling cookies outside the categories described above, which you choose yourself;
- no sharing of your data with advertisers other than Meta (Facebook/Instagram);
- no selling of your data to third parties.
We use Google Analytics for aggregate visit statistics (see above and section 5) and the Meta Pixel to measure Facebook/Instagram ads (see section 6) — neither is activated before your explicit consent, category by category. If we were to add other tools in the future, we will update this page and ask for your specific consent before activating them.
4. The banner you see on your first visit
On your first visit we ask for your consent on three optional categories — remembering the language you choose, anonymous visit statistics, and Facebook/Instagram advertising (Meta Pixel). You can:
- Accept all: language, statistics and marketing are all activated;
- Accept only necessary: none of the three is activated, the site works exactly the same;
- Customise: decide on a category-by-category basis.
You can change your mind at any time by clicking "GDPR Consent Management" at the bottom of any page, or with the button below:
5. Google Analytics, in detail
When you consent to the "Statistics" category, the site loads Google Analytics 4, a statistical analysis service provided by Google Ireland Limited. We only collect aggregate, anonymised data (your IP address is automatically truncated by Google before being stored) — pages visited, visit duration, general device type, approximate traffic origin. We do not use this information to identify you personally.
Google may transfer this data to servers in the United States; it does so under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission, the mechanisms provided for by the GDPR for this kind of transfer. For more information, you can consult Google's privacy policy.
6. Meta Pixel (Facebook/Instagram), in detail
When you consent to the "Marketing" category, the site loads the Meta Pixel, an advertising measurement tool provided by Meta Platforms Ireland Limited. It lets us understand how many people reach the site from our Facebook and Instagram ads, and show our ads again in the future to people who already visited the site (remarketing). The Pixel sets third-party cookies (see table in section 2) and shares with Meta data such as the page visited, the action taken and a browser identifier — data that Meta may associate with your Facebook/Instagram account if you are logged in at that time.
Meta may transfer this data to servers in the United States, under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission. For more information, you can consult Meta's data policy and their page on interest-based advertising, from which you can also manage your advertising preferences directly on your Meta account.
7. The staff-only area
The site includes a password-protected area reserved exclusively for Bottega del Fuoco staff to manage incoming requests from the site's forms (quotes, assistance, collaborations). That area uses technical cookies necessary for the login to function (to keep the session active and prevent unauthorised access). These cookies do not concern or affect public visitors to the site: they only activate for those who access that restricted section with valid credentials.
8. How to manage cookies from your browser
In addition to the preferences offered by this site, you can always control, block or delete cookies and local data directly from your browser settings. The procedures vary from browser to browser; for reference:
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
- Safari: Preferences → Privacy
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security
- Edge: Settings → Privacy, search, and services
9. Updates to this page
This Cookie Policy may be updated over time, for example if the site were to start using new technical tools. The date at the top of the page indicates the last update.
